Thingy things and things

Sun Mar 9, 2008, 3:53 PM
AHOY!

Thanks to all you folk for taking part in the feature thingie. I hope you at least got some views and acknowledgment out of it.

Anyways recently I haven't been doing much at all. My drive kind of drowned its self in oil or something...Instead I've found myself watching lots of film (especially now that I have a Cineworld unlimited card) and generally just messing about doing the general uni stuff that I do every week. Shout things at me to do!

So since I have been watching many a film I thought I'd recommend and warn you of some. So here 't'is:

FILMS

Juno: Must see film. If you think it's going to be crap because it's about teen pregnancy then you'll be nicely surprised that it's not your generic piece of crap teen film. It has one of the best scripts I've heard in a film for AGES (the lady who wrote it even won an Oscar for it). Not to mention amazing acting.

Vantage Point: The story of this film is nothing new or special at all, it's fun and entertaining but what's important about this film is it's presentation. I can't say too much or I'll give it away but it's about different peoples perspectives at an event. The thing that makes this film special is that it has been made so damn well. Please go see this if only for one of the end scenes. It's the coolest thing I've seen in a while! AND IT HAS JACK FROM LOST IN IT!

Be Kind Rewind: Michel Gondry strikes again with another fun and slightly (less) surreal/strange film. This time the story is a lot simpler and easy to follow but it's still nice and quirky. I really enjoyed this film but because Gondry is one of my favourite filmmakers I'm a bit critical about it. It's not as great as Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind or The Science of Sleep but it's still great (keeping in mind that the two films I named are amazing). It's a nice heart warming, quirky story.

Diary of The Dead: Only go to watch this film IF:
1) You hate yourself
2) You want to waste £5 and can't think of anything else to do
3) You want to see an awful film and piss yourself off at the same time

National Treasure: Book of Secrets: If you didn't like the first then this isn't for you. However, I loved the first film. It was like someone finally managed to bring back the fun, entertaining, Hollywood, no crap adventure family movie. And with this film they do it all over again. Sure it's generic but if you want to be entertained and enjoy action films this is great!

  • Mood: Content
  • Listening to: Cradle of Filth - Funeral In Carpathia
  • Reading: The Amber Spyglass & animation books
  • Watching: Lost: Season 2 (almost done)
  • Playing: Team Fortress 2
  • Eating: Nothing
  • Drinking: BAILEYS

I want to see Juno so bad ><

Vantage point looks interesting as Ive just been talking about perspective in my film essay =P. I wanted to see Be Kind Rewind because it looks like so much fun :D, much better than school of rock.

Hmm, I didnt think that diary of the dead would be that bad, but rather 'just another zombie film' :P, I still need to see the rest of the Romero films before this one anyway...

I didn't like the first National Treaure (I don't' know why, didn't suck me in :/)

BUT YA! there are so many good films on the horizon m8! its a good year to be a film enthusiast! :D

It is sir. So far for films this year has been amazing! :)

Please though, don't compare be kind to school of rock. Just because it has Jack Black in it doesn't mean it'll be anything alike sir. Have you seen a Michel Gondry film before?

I hope my reviews were of use :P <3
